We request your continued support of American Blues Theater (ABT) and its growing audiences. Last year your attendance, donations, and in-kind contributions helped ABT produce the sold-out hit It’s a Wonderful Life: Live at the Biograph!, the critically-acclaimed Waiting for Lefty, co-produce the benefit performance of Shinsai with Manhattan Theater Club and the Public Theater, the staged-reading of our 2011’s award-winning Blue Ink script, and four (4) staged-readings of RIPPED: the Living Newspaper Project at the Joffrey Ballet and Victory Gardens Biograph Theater.
This year we’re proud to offer an ambitious and thrilling 27th Season: two-time Pulitzer nominee and ABT Artistic Affiliate James Still’s world premiere of Illegal Use of Hands, Chicago’s holiday tradition It’s a Wonderful Life: Live at the Biograph!, 2010’s Broadway version of Collected Stories by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Donald Margulies, the staged-reading of our 2012 Blue Ink Playwriting Award play, the Spring festival of RIPPED: the Living Newspaper Project, and our education outreach program, The Lincoln Project, for underserved 7th – 9th graders in Chicago Public Schools.
As we move forward, we proudly ask you to contribute your philanthropic support of our endeavors. The first $50,000 donated to American Blues will be matched dollar for dollar by our generous Board of Directors.
Your donation goes directly toward the art on stage and our community outreach. From 2010-2012, ABT raised awareness of social and service organizations by distributing their promotional materials in our lobby (PAWS Chicago, Illinois Farm Bureau), providing complimentary tickets (Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Lincoln Park Community Shelter), and gathering supplies throughout our productions (Greater Chicago Food Depository, Open Books, Chicago Public Schools). In addition, we donated proceeds from our “Pink Previews” to The Lynn Sage Foundation for breast cancer research.
Donating is easy! You can either mail to our administrative office (1016 N. Dearborn, Chicago 60610) or donate online.
Thank you for supporting our mission. Your true blue generosity is deeply appreciated.
Warmest regards,
Wendy Whiteside (Producing Artistic Director) Larry Schulman (President, Board of Directors)
